Yahoo has released a platform of Yahoo! Open Strategy (Y!OS) 1.0, which can be used to bring innovation and content from various third-party sites to the Yahoo network. Y! OS itself serves to facilitate users to bring content to Yahoo inbound and outbound as well as facilitating the social networking users to enter a new hot topic in the new Y!OS.
Y! OS has several elements:
1. Yahoo Social Platform (YSP) is a set of API (Application Programming Language) to interact with the various social components of Yahoo, like Sky, connections, updates, contacts and status
2. Yahoo Query Language (YQL) as the SQL language that provides access to user data or other Yahoo sites
3. Yahoo Application Platform (YAP): Open Social based applications allow for distribution in various Yahoo properties, including the home page of Yahoo Mail and Yahoo
In addition to adding new features to the summit, Yahoo will also continue to develop social networking features to its products. For example, Yahoo Mail will have an email filter as a filter e-mail arriving on a friend and that is only allowed the user to add the latest activities of friends to Yahoo users. All these new services will be protected by OAuth authentication standard that ensures the user has full control over the implementation of selected users to access the personal data of users.
